Thank you for your enquiry about licence conversion training at Bristol
Flying Centre. This document contains the latest information which
I hope you will find useful.
Holders of a CPL/IR or ATPL/IR-Non ICAO
Candidates must complete a ground school at a JAA approved ground
school.
We are happy to recommend Bristol Ground School www.bristol.gs
for distant learning. This should take between 8 and 10 months or
a residential course, taking 6 months and we would be happy to recommend
www.oxfordaviation.net
at Oxford.
A flying test may not be attempted until all ground subjects have
been successfully completed.
Sufficient Flying Training at a JAA/FCL Approved flying establishment
to satisfy the CFI that the candidate has achieved a standard that
will enable him/her to pass the CPL Skill Test.
You must also have 150 hours flying before taking the CPL Skill Test.
The CPL is a 25 hours course and candidates must hold a 170A to take
the Skill Test.
25 hours GFT/CPL Training,
20 hours PA28 and 5 hours PA28R
The Instrument Rating is a 50 hours course and again candidates must
hold a 170A to take the test.
50 Hours IR training
35 hours simulator training on a FNPT 2 and 15 hours training on a
aircraft.
Holders of Overseas CPL/IR, ATPL/IR to JAA/FCL CPL/IR, ATPL/IR
with less than 1500 hours
Candidates must complete a ground school at a JAA approved ground
school.

For the I/R they must undertake a minimum 15 hour flying course and

Holders of Overseas ATPL/IR to JAA/FCL ATPL/IR with more than
1500 hours and 500 hours multi-crew experience
Sufficient Ground Training at a JAA Approved ground school to satisfy
the Chief Instructor that the candidate has achieved a standard that
will enable him/her to be successful in the subjects undertaken.We
are happy to recommend Bristol Ground School www.bristol.gs
or if you want a residential course, we recommend www.oxfordaviation.net.
For those having more than 500 hours multi-crew experience on a multi-crew
simulator or aircraft candidates may elect to be observed by a CAA
Flight Operations Training Inspector on the multi-crew aircraft type
on which they are rated or follow the courses indicated above for
those with less than 1500 hours. For those having less than 500 hours
multi-crew experience the licence will revert to a CPL/IR until sufficient
hours are obtained. A GFT skill test may be required at the discretion
of FCL.
Holders of an Overseas JAA ATPL/IR with a minimum 3000 hours
(including 1500 hours in command) on aircraft over 30,000 kg's
Applicants with the above experience should apply for a written assessment
enclosing the appropriate fee, log books, and non JAA/FCL Licence
and valid medical certificate to Civil Aviation Authority, Personnel
Licensing Department, Aviation House, Gatwick Airport South, West
Sussex, RH6 0YR
