When you take part in any training course, for any subject and for any purpose, it is absolutely essential to make sure you understand the main thrust of the course. Is the subject matter helpful to you in your current post, or is it to enable you to advance to the next level. Does the trainer have all the equipment to provide the course material without interruption or delay. Do you have a preferred means of learning. i.e. do you know if the training will be presented in a simple style of being addressed for hours verbally and you have to note things down and refer to course literature. Or, and this is definitely my way of learning, is the presenter able to give hints in a direction but actually get you to carry out the function at the same time – hands on demonstration mode. Getting this right is essential.
